“Like a Silent Sea” is an emotional Baba song by Ward Parks that describes the lover’s aspirations to purify the heart, longing to become like dust at Meher’s door. Ward is a prolific, Baba poet whose song lyrics are both powerful and beautiful. A heart becoming poor describes a heart purged of all desires except the one desire to become one with the Divine Beloved. It’s the combination of the words and music that make this Baba song by Ward Parks one of my favorites.
1) Like a Silent Sea is Meher, mirroring my soul.
Friend eternally is Meher who will make me whole.
Yet I cannot find the way that leads unto His door.
He who is the King of kings resides among the poor.
2) Ages of our waiting Meher drew You here again.
Though You are Beloved God You bear the cross of men.
Yet Your Truth and Beauty shine from every distant shore,
And in the eyes of Your lovers whose hearts have become poor.
3) Clear is Your Flame, oh my Meher, like the fairest dawn.
Silently by night You came and by daybreak had gone.
Yet Your Kiss will ever burn within the heart’s deep core,
Which is the Rose of Ancient Love worshiped by the poor.
4) Beauty as the Sea is Meher Who is my own true Soul.
Friend eternally is Meher in whom I am made whole.
Yet I long to be the dust that waits outside His door,
And I will come to know Him when I am truly poor.
